According to section 154 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, an FIR should be:
a.) FIR can be given orally which will be written by Police Officer.
b.) A Copy of the Information shall be given to the informant free of cost.
c.) Information should be entered in a book to be kept by such officer in such form as the State Government may prescribe in this behalf.
