The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, has announced a recruitment drive for the post of Junior Scientific Officer (JSO) on a contractual basis for one year or until regular recruitment is completed. Below are the details of the recruitment process, eligibility criteria, and other important information.
Posts and Qualifications
Applications are invited for the following posts, with specific educational qualifications and experience requirements:
1.Junior Scientific Officer (Biology)
Qualification: Master’s degree in Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Physical Anthropology, Genetics, or Forensic Science with Botany/Zoology as a subject during B.Sc. OR B.E./B.Tech in Biotechnology.
Experience: 3 years in research/analytical work in relevant fields.
2. Junior Scientific Officer (Chemistry)
Qualification: Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Forensic Science with Chemistry as a subject during B.Sc. OR Associateship diploma of the Institution of Chemists by examination.
Experience: 3 years in research/analytical work.
3. Junior Scientific Officer (Ballistics)
Qualification: Master’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Forensic Science with Physics/Mathematics as a subject during B.Sc.
Experience: 3 years in research/analytical work.
4. Junior Scientific Officer (Physics)
Qualification: Master’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Computer Science, Electronics, or Forensic Science with Physics as a subject during B.Sc. OR B.E./B.Tech in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Telecommunication, Computer Science, Instrumentation or Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) or Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) or Information Technology or Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE).
Experience: 3 years in research/analytical work.
5. Junior Scientific Officer (Cyber Forensic)
Qualification: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Application, IT, Physics with Electronics specialization, or Digital Forensics OR B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or Electronics & Communication Engineering.
6. Junior Scientific Officer (Photo)
Qualification: Master’s degree in Physics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, IT, or B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence.
7. Junior Scientific Officer (Lie Detection)
Qualification: Master’s degree in Psychology, Applied Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, or Criminology.
Desirable: 1 year of experience in Forensic Psychology.
8. Junior Scientific Officer (Documents)
Qualification: Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, or Forensic Science with Physics/Chemistry studied for at least two years during B.Sc.
9. Junior Scientific Officer (Finger Print)
Qualification: Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, or Forensic Science with Physics/Chemistry studied for at least two years during B.Sc.
Desirable: Doctorate degree in the concerned discipline.
10. Junior Scientific Officer (HRD/QC)
Qualification: Master’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Forensic Science, or Psychology.
Screening Criteria for Junior Scientific Officer Recruitment
The Screening criteria for eligible candidates will be on the basis of the FACT Plus exam Qualification during the last three years.
Number of Posts
A total of 116 posts are available across various categories. The distribution of posts is as follows:
- Biology: 15 (UR – 08, OBC – 03, SC – 02, ST – 01, EWS – 01)
- Chemistry: 14 (UR – 08, OBC – 03, SC – 01, ST – 01, EWS – 01)
- Ballistics: 6 (UR – 05, OBC – 01)
- Physics: 6 (UR – 05, OBC – 01)
- CSMD: *36 (UR – 17, OBC – 09, SC – 05, ST – 02, EWS – 03)
- Cyber Forensic: 24 – (UR – 12, OBC – 06, SC – 03, ST – 01, EWS – 02)
- Photo: 4 (UR – 03, OBC – 01)
- Lie Detection: 4 (UR – 03, OBC – 01)
- Documents: 5 (UR – 04, OBC-01)
- Finger Print: 1 (UR – 01)
- HRD/QC: 1 (UR – 01)
*36 posts of Junior Scientific Officer (CSMD) would be filled as per educational and other qualifications of JSO (Physics), JSO (Biology) and JSO (Chemistry) along with FACT Plus Certificate in proportion. No separate application shall be accepted for Junior Scientific Officer (CSMD).
Duties to be Performed
Selected candidates will be responsible for:
- Examining crime scenes and submitting reports.
- Visiting crime scenes for evidence identification and reconstruction.
- Assisting senior officers in modernization and routine functioning.
- Photography/videography of crime scenes and exhibits.
- Performing other duties assigned by senior officers.
Terms and Conditions
- Remuneration: Rs. 68,697/- per month (consolidated).
- Age Limit: Not exceeding 30 years as of the closing date (age relaxation as per government rules).
- Contract Tenure: One year or until regular recruitment, whichever is earlier.
- Termination: Services can be terminated anytime without reason. Candidates must provide one month’s notice or surrender one month’s remuneration to quit.
- Working Hours: 24×7 in shifts; candidates may be posted anywhere in Delhi or on mobile forensic vans.
- No TA/DA: Travel or daily allowances will not be provided.
- Selection Process: Walk-in interviews will be conducted as per the schedule.

- Deadline: Applications must be submitted physically or by post to the Principal Director, FSL, Rohini, Delhi, by 24.04.2025 (6:00 PM).

Will be held at the Forensic Science Laboratory, Sector-14, Rohini from 10 A.M.
Important Notes
- Incomplete applications will be rejected.
- Separate applications must be submitted for each post.
- Selected candidates must execute a contract agreement on a non-judicial stamp paper of Rs. 100/-.
