Read, Read and Read…. You are making yourself Awesome…
Who don’t want to read exciting, nail biting and scary stories specially when it enhance our knowledge and increase our criteria of viewing things. Whenever we read some novels, either we read it for fun. But what if we also gain some knowledge from it? Yes, you got me right. Novels are also knowledgeable and may be you have read many. I always wanna read something which make my time worth while and simultaneously i can have fun with. We can’t always read text book, sometime our mind needs refreshment too. And for the refreshment what can be more better than having best novels related to your field.
If you are from forensic field then you definitely should read crime fiction which can make you understand the applicability of forensics in actual world. May be the story is not upto the mark, may be we don’t like the end of the story but what it has stated, how many terms has been used in there and how can are they using new techniques/methods and how can we convey our thought and findings more confidently; all of these only come with reading and reading novel make the fun double.
I have tried to make a list of those novels which you may never regret that you read. Everyone who loves suspense, thriller should definitely read these. My personal favourite is Gabriel McRay Series by Lauri Stevens. But I enjoyed reading all which I am going to list here. These stories will feed your mind with suspense and lots of excitement. I am writing my own view or you can say reviews here. Now I am going to talk about the novels one by one from the list below so you get the summary.
Here We Go:
1. Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle.
Do i need to tell about the person who wrote the very first novel dedicated to different aspects of science use to solve the crime. My all time favourite, and no one can beat the knowledge of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who wrote things which we still trying to use in our system in present time.
Sherlock, the main character, the person who only love to analyze things and elaborate like it was so easy to know. I sometimes wonder that how can Doyle wrote this character and the plots with this precision. I won’t lie if i say i learn every time whenever i read this.Have you read this Yet?
2.The Dark Before Dawn by Lauries Stevens
The Dark Before Dawn is the first of Gabriel McRay series by Lauries Stevens. This book begins with us the reader behind the eyes of the vicious and twisted Malibu Canyon killer luring a victim to his demise. The main character is a detective who can’t seem to get a break.
In The novel, Gabriel McRay is hunting for the serial killer in seamy underside of Los Angeles. He is a detective and very good with his work but also suffering from inner turmoil which made him to see the psychiatrist and i must say that portion is truly well written regarding the psychiatric aspect. writer has also wrote the Another positive is the well researched forensics aspects of the story. I read about the minute details of evidence findings, which make me love it more. I didn’t find it very romantic but it doesn’t bother me as i am not fan of romantic novels. As an detective Gabriel done everything to find the suspect while he was coping with his psychological issues. In my view this story has the all what a suspense thriller need to have. chasing the suspect through the trace evidences, clues, etc. this novel is definitely one time read and if you like it then read again.
3. Deep into Dusk by Laurie Steven
In second book of the McRay series, Laurie Steven’s mystery of the main character’s emotional trauma is just as terrifying and tragic as the murders to be solved. While he is catching the serial killer who is killing womens one by one, he is fighting with his own psychological problems. Detective Gabriel McRay is still struggling to face the past but now woman are turning up dead in Los Angeles, with no clues. But then one woman escapes, Tara Samuels. Can she help find the guilty person.
4.Beyond the Body Farm by William Marvin Bass
I like this book a lot because it’s by the great Dr. William Marvin Bass III. He is an American forensic anthropologist. And he does a good job of covering the basic tools and techniques used in the field, the quality of writing is definitely satisfactory. He explained concepts simply which make you learn anthropology uses in forensics.
In this riveting book, the renowned bone sleuth explores the rise of modern forensic science and takes readers deep into the real world of crime scene investigation (CSI). Beyond the Body Farm is an extraordinary journey through some of the most fascinating investigations of Dr.Bass’s career—and a remarkable look at the high-tech science used to crack the most perplexing cases.”
5. Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie
So, this was my first Agatha Christie book and considering how much fun I had while I read it, it definitely won’t be my last. I was not expecting that ending, which is obviously a good thing in a murder mystery story, but I am proud of myself for picking up on some other clues.
A murder in train and Multiple suspects. Everyone has an alibi. But with motive also. How did this seemingly impossible murder occur? Hercule Poirot knows. I only want to say that don’t miss the train. Will You?
6. The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen
Tess Gerritsen has provided the readers of The Surgeon a new strong women detective Jane Rizzoli. I enjoy reading The Surgeon. I like the way Tess Gerritsen describes the problems women have in law enforcements. I also enjoy the way, Tess Gerritsen describes the interaction between Detective Thomas Moore and Detective Jan Rizzoli. I like the way Tess Gerritsen portrays her characters especially Dr Catherine Cordell.
Readers of The Surgeon will learn about the consequences of rape for women and how a rapist can come back and attack their victims a second time. Also, Readers of The Surgeon will learn about the law enforcement procedures.Readers of The Surgeon will learn about hospital procedures and what is involved to be a surgeon. What Do you think?
7. The Chalk Pit by Elly Griffiths
Dr. Ruth Galloway is called in to look at some bones discovered while digging out for a new restaurant. Ruth is sure the bones are old.Meanwhile, Harry Nelson and his team begin investigating the disappearance of a homeless woman (rough sleeper in British) reported by another rough sleeper Eddie. Soon, other women start to disappear. turning the case into a serious crime investigation.
Definitely a series to consider if you like mysteries with a little humor and light on the violence. The British countryside setting is, for me, a huge plus, and may be for you as well. Recommended.
8. The Chemistry of Death by Simon Beckett
Hunter is a forensic expert who left his job in London after a tragedy forced him to make a change to his life. He’s currently working in the small Norfolk village of Manham as a General Practitioner. While he can’t stop dreaming of his dead family, he’s as content as he can be under the circumstances. When the savagely mutilated body of Sally Palmer is found, Hunter knows he needs to help the police find the killer, despite his reluctance to return to his former profession. When another woman disappears, it becomes painfully clear that a serial killer is at work.
I found this book quite gripping. It had a great story and the setting and characters were very realistic. The details of what occurs to a decomposing body may not be for the faint of heart but for Forensic lovers, but if you are a fan of Kathy Reichs and Patricia Cornwell you will really enjoy this book.
9. The Firemaker by Peter May
This is a detective / thriller / romance set in China featuring American pathologist Margaret Campbell & Chinese detective Li Yan.
The main character, Margaret Campbell leaves America to get away from some personal problems, but she is not prepared for the cultural differences she finds in Beijing. She is stereotypically uninformed, and her relationship with Li Yan is fraught with social missteps. This relationship gives May the opportunity to scatter interesting Chinese culture throughout the book and to develop an appealing sense of place. Along the way, the characters learn to accept each other’s decorum and work together.
I liked the story and the characters – Peter May is not afraid to break boundaries and head in to territory from which there is no return! And the setting gives it an interesting edge over other books in this genre.
10. Lying in Wait by Liz Nugent
Lying in Wait by Liz Nugent is a twisted psychological thriller with evil at its helm. This is a dark, hair-raising and disturbing psychological thriller with a bunch of odious characters and a shocking ending. There wasn’t one character I took to; as a matter of fact the main characters were horrid! The plot is dark and the further I read the darker it was – and then there was the obsessive relationship between mother and son!A multi-layered thriller filled with mystery and intrigue, Lying in Wait is one I will recommend.
I will soon come with new suggestions. Don’t forget to Subscribe our Newsletter and don’t forget to comment your views on these fictions or mention your favourites.
